On the heels of our new Philippines Davao de Oro Organic 2023 last week, we have 3 new crops of 3 favorites....and somehow they are ALL better this year. I'm not sure how that is possible for ones that were great to begin with, but there it is.
First up, our super popular 'it hardly stays in stock'
Fiji Rakiraki 2023 Direct Trade - The first aroma is intense chocolate, warm cinnamon dates and toffee. The flavor is bold and thick with layers of the same dried dates and bittering spices.
Next up is an old standby and the one I feel has most improved from near perfect.
Ecuador Costa Esmeraldas 2023 Direct Trade The overarching impression for this bean is nuance and elegance. The aroma starts off with chocolate and lightly toasted warm cedar. The solid chocolate backbone is backed with delicate wood tannins and brown sugars
And finally, Uganda Semuliki 2023 Direct Trade. I was absolutely blown away by the intense holiday spice laced figgy/date pudding aroma coming off the finished chocolate. It is just begging to let you down by not being present in the chocolate, but in this case it delivers in spades.
